What to Expect at Your First Visit to Pearl & Pine
Your first visit to Pearl & Pine Dental Studio is not a typical dental appointment. It is designed to be the most thorough, informative, and genuinely welcoming dental experience you have ever had. We take the time to truly understand your health history, your concerns, and your goals so that every recommendation we make is rooted in a complete picture of who you are and what you need.
Step 1 — Arrival and Welcome
When you arrive at our Gulf Breeze, FL office, you will be greeted warmly by our front desk team. We will offer you a beverage from our patient lounge and take a brief moment to confirm your paperwork and introduce you to our space before your appointment begins. There is no rushing here.
Step 2 — Comprehensive Imaging
Your appointment begins with a collection of diagnostic records that help us understand your oral health from every angle. Depending on your individual needs, this may include digital X-rays, high-resolution clinical photography, 3D intraoral scanning, and, when clinically indicated, low-radiation CBCT imaging.
These records allow us to evaluate your teeth, gums, bite, jaw structure, and airway while identifying concerns that may not be visible during a routine examination. Together, they provide the foundation for your personalized treatment recommendations.
Step 3 — Meeting Your Doctor
You will meet Dr. Dixie or Dr. Shane for a detailed medical and dental history review. We ask questions about your overall health, current medications, past dental experiences, and any specific concerns you would like us to address. This conversation is unhurried. We genuinely want to understand your full health picture before we look at a single tooth.
Step 4 — Your Comprehensive Exam
Your full clinical exam at Pearl & Pine covers oral cancer screening, chairside salivary analysis, TMJ and jaw function assessment, airway screening, comprehensive periodontal probing and charting, tooth-by-tooth evaluation, and bite and occlusion analysis. We document all findings in detail.
Step 5 — Findings Review and Treatment Planning
The final portion of your visit is dedicated to reviewing your findings and discussing next steps. We take the time to explain what we found, answer your questions, and help you understand how your oral health, airway, bite, and overall wellness may be connected.
Using your records and examination findings, we will discuss any areas of concern and present personalized treatment recommendations based on your needs, goals, and priorities. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions, explore your options, and make informed decisions about your care.
For more complex cases, we may recommend a dedicated follow-up case explanation appointment to allow for additional analysis and a more in-depth discussion of treatment options.
